Congestion charge for London.
To drive a vehicle within the charging zone between 07:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday, you have to pay a £11.50 charge.

There are several available ways to pay this charge:

The phone lines are open:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 22:00.

Another payment method is via SMS. This can only be used on the same day you send the message.

Many newsagents, petrol stations and convenience stores allow you to pay the charge in cash. Look for the Congestion Charging sign or the PayPoint Logo.

You can also pay from Transport of London’s website.
Make sure to have your vehicle registration number ready, as you will need this.

A network of cameras reads the registration plates of the vehicles passing, and the number is checked against a database of those who paid the congestion charge.The photographic image of your vehicle is wiped from the database as soon as it has been found to belong to either a vehicle that has paid the charge, one that is exempt, or one that is registered for a 100% discount.

If you forgot to pay, you can call the pay congestion charge number and pay within midnight of the day you were within the zone. If no charge has been paid by midnight the same day, you will have to pay a penalty charge. If you do receive a penalty charge notice, you have 28 days to either contest it or pay it. If you decide to challenge the penalty charge, you can do this either online or in writing.
